To My Fellow “Waiters”

I dedicate this post to little Michael and his dear family. I’m excited to meet you after such a looooooong wait! =)

Right now, I’m waiting…

I’m waiting on a great many things in my life, but chiefly I am waiting on God in each situation. At present, I am waiting for a child to be born, a son to be delivered as one of two pregnant friends are in labor. This particular friend is in a hospital halfway across the country from me, but my heart is ever present with her. I find it’s difficult to go about my day without my mind coming back to her, wondering what she must be experiencing, waiting to hear more news to follow her text about her water breaking and receiving inducing meds since she is well past her due date. Psalm 146: He Is Our Hope

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord while I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Do not trust in princes,
in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation.
His spirit departs, he returns to the earth;
in that very day his thoughts perish.
How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God

“But Note Joseph…”

But note Joseph’s words: “it was not you who sent me here, but God” (Genesis 45:8). Neither treacherous siblings nor a woman’s lust nor the shame of prison nor a cupbearer’s neglect could thwart the purpose of God (Job 42:2) in preserving God’s people (Genesis 45:7) and fulfilling a prophecy given to Abraham (Genesis 15:13). God made evil the slave of his grace.

And he’s doing the same for you. God is doing more good than you can imagine through the most painful experiences of your life.

Go to the ant…observe her ways and be wise…” –Proverbs 6:6

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the land.” –Psalm 37:7-9

*This post concerns being observant as you listen for God’s voice and expect Him to speak through whatever means He chooses.

Songs in My Head

A few weeks ago, I went out for a morning walk, prompted by the light of dawn and a soft nudging by the Spirit to walk with Him. It’s been so long since I wanted to do something like this, and I was happy to embark on our first adventure of the day. Those who’ve kept up with my posts know that waiting has become a close friend of mine, and now, I find my excitement building as I anticipate what God has been preparing in me and around me.
